Dorab Mistry was born in India in 1953 and graduated from Bombay University in Commerce in 1973. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1976, having won the President’s Gold Medal.
He started his career at GODREJ, one of India’s leading industrial groups, in 1976. Since 1977 Dorab was based in London handling the vegetable oil buying and trading portfolio for GODREJ. The company’s wide ranging interests in vegetable oil processing, animal feeds, oleo chemicals, alcohols, soaps, toiletries, foods and plantations gave him a unique perspective of the world vegetable oil scenario.
Since 1996, Dorab has been a regular speaker on vegetable oil Price Outlook and is regarded as a leading analyst of price behaviour. He also writes and speaks regularly on the Indian economic scene. Dorab has served as India’s representative on the managing committee of the International Association of Seed Crushers and was its Vice President from 2006 to 2008.
In June 2013, Dorab Mistry was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II Diamond Jubilee Birthday Honours List.
From April 2015, Dorab has re-located to Singapore.
Marc Kellens is the global technical director of the Oils, Fats and Oleochemical division of The De Smet Ballestra Group and member of the executive committee.
He started in De Smet Ballestra in 1991 and is since 2003 responsible as global technical director for the oils and oilseeds technologies and oleochemical processes developed, designed and built by the De Smet Ballestra group. He carries R&D in his heart and is today still strongly involved in the new product developments and R&D activities of the group.
He has an engineering degree in food processing and technology and a PhD in oils and fats crystallization, is author of numerous scientific articles and chapters in oils and oilseeds related books and has several patents in oil and oilseed processing technologies.
He received in 2007 the European Lipid Technology Award and was given in 2015 the AOCS Distinguished Oil Processing Division Award. He received the Fellow of Euro Fed Lipid (FEFL) Award in 2017and was recently presented the Honorary Fellow Award by the Malaysian Oil Scientists’ and Technologists’ Association (MOSTA) in 2018.
He was president of the European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (EFL) from 2010 till 2013 and president of the International Society of Fat Research (ISF) in 2013-2014.

Martin Rushworth is based in Malaysia as the Commercial Head of Palm for Novozymes, the Denmark based global leader in industrial enzymes. His remit is to roll out enzyme processing at all stages of the palm oil value chain. Born and educated in the UK, he joined Unilever as an engineering graduate in 1974. His 30-year career with Unilever spans three continents and eight countries. Earlier on he was based in Unilever Research Vlaardingen responsible for global transfer of manufacturing technology in edible fats and oils. Subsequently he progressed from Technical Director to Chief Operating Officer to CEO and Chairman of Unilever national business operations in Africa and Asia covering oil palm, oil refining, oleochemicals, and consumer goods. He was active with Unilever in oil palm plantation operations, acquisitions and disposals in Cote d’Ivoire, Congo and Malaysia together with midstream and downstream operations.
After the sale of Unilever’s Malaysian Plantations to IOI in 2004 he set up his own private business which he sold 5 years later. From 2011 he joined Felda Global Ventures where he was appointed Head of the Downstream Division over a period that included their IPO listing. Since joining Novozymes in 2015 he has been driving the enzyme platform for palm oil. Martin lives in Malaysia with his French wife and three children.
Wim De Greyt graduated in 1988 as Engineer in Food Technology from the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He obtained a PhD degree at the same University in 1998 with a study on ‘Effect of Physical Refining on Selected Minor Components in Vegetable Oils’.
He worked as Research Assistant at the Department of Food Technology & Nutrition (University of Ghent) from 1989 until 1998. Later he joined Extraction De Smet where he worked first as R& D project leader and from 2000 as R & D Manager. Today, he is working as Senior R & D Manager coordinating the R & D activities of Desmet-Ballestra Group in the area of oilseed/biomass preparation and crushing, oil refining and modification and oleochemical processes, including biodiesel production. He is (co-) author of more than 55 scientific papers and known as presenter at international conferences and workshops. He is a member of the American Oil Chemist Society since 1996 and since 2009 also co-chairman of the Processing Division of EuroFed Lipid. In this position, he served as member of the Member of the Scientific Committee of the EuroFed Lipid Conferences in Graz (2009), Rotterdam (2011), Antalya (2013), Ghent (2016) and Uppsala (2017)

He has 17yrs of experience in “Enzymatic Solutions to Oils & Fats Processing” covering technical sales, business development and new solution development with enzymes for oils & fats processing.
In 2001 he introduced Enzyme Degumming to Indian Vegetable oil industry. In 2008, he invented and presented “Enzyme Assisted Palm Oil Extraction” process and “Enzyme Assisted Kachi Ghani Mustard Extraction” process. In 2012, he Invented and successfully commercialized An Improved Enzyme Degumming Process for refining of rice bran oil with far superior degumming results. Later he also invented the process of commercializing “Enzyme Assisted Refining of SOFT OILS”.
Later he Founded a company Shirdi Sai Nutraceuticals Pvt Ltd – dedicated to development of Enzyme Based Solutions to Processing of Oils & Fats and their by-products.
A qualified engineer with a specialization in chemical engineering, Mr Sandeep Chaturvedi now helms the Biodiesel Association of India (BDAI) which is promoting the biodiesel industry in India. Considered an expert on biofuels, Mr Chaturvedi essayed a key role in formulating the National Biofuels Policy announced by the MNRE in December 2009.
An ardent environmentalist and a lover of all that is `green and clean’, Mr Chaturvedi has advised several states such as Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka on biodiesel plantation schemes. He was a special invitee at the Planning Commission of India during 2007-08 and helped in drafting the first policy document under the Chairmanship of Dr Kirit Parikh, then Member (Energy), of the Commission.
As a Member, State Level Co-ordination Committee for implementation of Bioenergy in Uttar Pradesh, he has provided inputs for the state’s biofuels policy under the name of Jeevan Jyoti. He is also a member on various committees for pricing/implementation of biodiesel of MOPNG, Planning Commission of India, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and other national and state bodies.
He also provided key inputs to the Biodiesel Implementation Committee report dated January 2010 under the directive of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, and in co-ordination with OMCs such as IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, RIL and biodiesel manufacturers of the country. He was the business head at GOCL between 1997-2008 where he developed specific products/applications for additives for paints, plasticizers, lubricating greases and perfumery. He developed business in several countries including in Russia, Greece, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the US and UK, central and east Europe, the Far East, Middle-East, China and South Africa by personally visiting and appointing agents/distributers there.
Presently, Mr Chaturvedi is an independent strategic consultant in the field of petroleum and renewable energy. Dr. Alam is the head of the fats and oil program at the process engineering R&D center (formerly known as food protein R&D Center) of Texas A&M University. His research also focuses on areas in formulating non-trans margarine, shortening, deep frying, biodiesel and biofuels. Currently, he is teaching a course FSTC/NUTR 485(3 credits) at the department of Nutrition and food science.
